K-8 STREAM Summer Camp 2017
Monday - Wednesday, July 24-26, 2017
Monday - Wednesday, July 31-August 2, 2017

For students entering kindergarten through eighth grade, we’re pleased to be able to offer our 2017 summer camp program, S.T.R.E.A.M. Through the Lens of Art, Horticulture & Robotics.

Art In Nature (9 am - 10:15 am): Students will enjoy and enhance their artistic ability in this program that uses nature for inspiration. Led by instructor Lisa Beard Barry, students will learn how the knowledge that they use to identify various animal and plant species is the knowledge that they need to draw and paint them. The class will have an opportunity to walk the grounds of Bishop McHugh School to observe the colors and shapes of a variety of species in nature. They will be working with many different materials to create their individual artistic pieces, including pastels, colored pencils, and paints. All supplies are included.

Horticulture & Related Fields (10:15-11:15 am): What does it take to be a horticulturist or a landscape architect? We will provide an engaging overview of these careers, bringing in guest speakers who will lead students in hands-on activities. Students will explore different types of soils, plants, and gardens and work toward planting a class garden.

Robotics for Beginners - Grades 5-8 (11:30 am - 12:30 pm):
It’s a new age and our lives are already filled with technology. Society is starting to explore, and use robot technology more and more. Robots are in our student’s lives now and in the future. Our summer robotics camp will offer various robotics projects: Guard Bot; Light-Tracking Robot, and an Obstacle Avoiding Robot. The students will gain experience building and assembling a robot using real electronic components. Come be a part of our summer camp.

This program will require a minimum number of students in order to operate. Refunds will be given for insufficient registration.
